i watched a tutorial of NI Battery 3 on Youtube (by Mao Tuto). He writes the drum sequence directly in the midi editor, he writes two bars. So it's exactly the same as having a sequencer like Boom. And i thought i was the only one to cheat by writing in the midi editor !!!

Cool, Izotope's iDrum is a sequencer, but too basic (like 20 sounds) like Boom (which has like not more than 100 sounds). Battery is 12 gigs (4000 sounds).

The iDrum you can import your own samples. It is a little toyish but I didn't know if money was an issue. You can also link it to the iPod/iPhone version and do samples on the go :)

I have both Superior Drummer 2 and Slate SSD4.
Couldn't live without either of them.
SD2 has all sorts of EZX add ons available for electronic/beat box nonsense, if that's what you're after.
I have both the Electronic and Twisted Kit EZX's for SD2.
SD2 with the Electronic kit does anything a "boom box" plug-in will do, and 10 times more.
Slate SSD4 comes with an electronic kit as well.

I think the person asking the question was looking for drum kits
not samples

I.E. drum plugins that have you write the entire beat using individual midi notes rather than pre made drum loops.

I'm on the same page as him if that's the case.

Problem is that everyone is using loops these days and the drum kits are not being updated enough so they're sounding outdated.

I mean,
boom only gives you 5 drum kits.

I wanted to throw my brand new DAW out the window when I saw that.

I am so p*ssed off that I'm fuming.

They've really got to stop making this stuff so one sided.

I mean, we shouldn't be punished so badly for trying to make our beats original.

we get 5 drum kits to work with and people using samples get thousands of drum loops in the new pro tools LE packages.

this is absolutely pathetic.

Every new drum kit they come out with sound 20-30 years old.

so yea,
If anyone has any good drum kit plugins (NOT SAMPLES or LOOPS)
for pro tools 10
let us know what they're called.

Samples are not loops in the way we are using the word. Drum plugins such as BFD, EZ Drummer, Superior Drummer, Slate etc, use samples for each drum. Hit a real kick drum once and record it. Thats one sample. So you play the kick, and there will be multiple samples based on velocity.

The OP was looking for a drum sequence or step sequencer. Similar to Boom, but using better samples or the ability to import samples.

If you simply want to write drum lines, you can program the beats in the Midi window and trigger any good drum program.

Thanks.
Do you know how to create those effects.
Reverse crash just use audio sweet to reverse it.
Reverse snare is actually reverse reverb and the same gose for that as well.
Print the rev for the snare as a stem then reverse it with audio sweet.

Almost everything was possible before the days of the daw its just easier and better now. Learn the techniques so you don't have to get stuck with some pre programmed sound and then you will be able to apply these tricks of the trade whenever you feel they are appropriate. This is what being an audio engineer is all about.

I use Toontrack EZ Drummer w/ tons of add on drums and Midi add on, BFD eco, BFD Lite, BFD eco Digital Vault Cymbals and Slate SSD4. and BOOM sometimes or a combination just depends on the song and how I feel that day.
