Default Sound Mapper Good or Evil?

This is a follow up tanget to a previous post. Several of my programs have to go through Windows Sound Mapper to get to the Mbox is this killing my audio or is it simply a digital router?

As far as i know its more like a router. It simply tells what device you would like to use with a very simple and generic interface. Less refined as ASIO. But for playing back 2 tracks....who needs refinement?

And i think your audioquality will not suffer from it.
