-9171 and -9172 errors with Pro Tools HD 10.3 on HDX

I have the same setup as you and I get this problem with no audio track just one Native Instrument Kontakt 5 playing drums.
Drives me made.
If someone can help us great.

Hi everybody,

So I just installed my brand-new HDX card, and running ProTools 10.3.8 I'm overwhelmed with 9171 and 9172 errors. Some sessions, simple sessions, won't even run without the buffer set 1024. What's up with this? Totally lame for a $6000 card.

Yep - join the club. However most of the plugs I use are now AAX, so I have deleted PT10 completely - and I don't these errors on PT11HD.

We've been running 10.3.8 on a MacPro HDX2 without any issues whatsoever, and we're usually tracking 80+ tracks at one time with 128-IO. Still on Mtn Kitty, and we just made sure that all of our MacPros, including 4-HD Native systems, were clean of the extra junk that throws PT into a stall. Look for instructions to turn NOTIFICATIONS OFF, as well as SPOTLIGHT. This will solve a lot of issues.

As fas a plugins, remember that 10 and 11 do NOT store any of their necessary files in the same places, which is why they can coexist. All plugins are separate.

I believe I may have found a solution for mac users.

I went into /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder and opened the Expansion Slot Utility. In this utility I made sure that my graphics card slot was set at x16 and the HD Native card was set at x8 (not x4)! You may have to move your HD card to the appropriate slot to achieve this.

The Playback Engine in Pro Tools is set to 128 buffer an 7/8 processors running at 99%.

This completely eliminated all my errors!

You are correct.

It looks like that the HD card should be placed in slot two then since, from my experience, x4 is not enough for the Hd card an the graphics card usually sits in slot 1.
