Default How to Have Automation on Section Only??

I look and try pretty much everything in the settings without success.

how can I make the automation ONLY to a specific region and LEAVE the previous/after track volume alone.

Ex : Let's say I have a 2 seconds fade-in gunshot sound, on a sound effect track.
The way automation work right now is :
by making this fade in/out to this specific region the previous /after also get a volume change
(unless I put 2 dots o each side of the region to block automation to happen outside that region)

This is really annoying to me and I think can easily lead to unwanted volume automation errors in session.

Is there a way (shortcut, setting) That we can LEAVE the rest of the track untouch when automating something?

What I wish to do is exactly what is show in this Sonar Video at exactly 3:00 min : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4ZuUbgmTrc

Notice how he modified only the section he wanted and left the remaining UNTOUCH.

Can we do that in Pro Tools?

Set the track to "Touch" automation mode and you should get what you want, I think.

is it switchin to latch after writing?

are u recording automation? or are u drawing automation on screen?

editing I just use the "-" to switch to editing volume autmation..

then double click on a bite to create region selection an it automatically inserts the points when I move the 'whole line'

its only when drawing 'freehand' that the behaviour u describe happens.. so yes I do insert 'safety' break points as u describe..

I guess the technique you described is the best we can do with pro tools so far.
It just become a little tedious when the automation
fade as many regions to "double click" and blank space between them.
I found DAW like Sonar so much simplier when dealing with automation.

Your technique and CTRL Click (for safety points) is the solution i guess.
Thank you :)

Changing the automation on a selected clip is easy.
and clip gain does pretty much the same (with some additional advantage)

But I'm talking about automating fade IN or OUT
between multiple clips (section) not the whole clip.

Using clip gain and creating fades on the clips should do the trick. If you just want to fade the clip, there is no reason to draw in volume automation. Additionally you could just set up a new track and then copy down the events that need to have a different setting. You could add automation, or anything you like, without disturbing the other track.
