Default Mavericks Clean install. PT LE8 user. What files to transfer?

[B]What should I do? I did the Clean install....had to....
I have not used my PT LE 8 since leaving China April 2003. I want to start again.

Q1: Do I reload my LE 8 Disk?
Q2: Do I transfer files from Backup drive SUCH AS Filtered Dream files (there are exactly 800 files of format Fade !THYfmBmc5Rk.aif
Q3: Session Backup files (only 26 EZMulti.bak.00.ptf). Apparently from EZ drummer i use

Plug-in Settings folders are all empty (eg. AIR Chorus, DB-33 Xpand2).

Here is the only web info I read today http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...663?popup=true

You need to upgrade -- only PT11 is supported on Mavericks.

If all of your session files are still available, there should be no problem opening an older session in a current PT system.

well, except for all third-party plugins disappearing, unless he buys new AAX licenses for all of them...

If you were using third-party plugins, I would try PT10 if I were you. It comes with the PT11 upgrade, but can use RTAS plugins. I have it successfully running on Mavericks here (though I use pt11 mostly, as I have upgraded the important plugs to AAX).

Well of course, plugins need to be installed. Luckily most of the stuff that worked with PT8 will also work with PT10 which comes bundled with PT11...

Other option: I am [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep] out of luck.

I bought the LE disck package for about 150 bucks early in 2011. PT 11 is listed at $700 (http://shop.avid.com/ccrz__ProductDe...=9900-65220-00)

For the $150 I got a total of 2 years out of the product, then it ends. That is a severe and serious rip-off.

Well you have changed to Mavericks and that hasn't been Avids decision so unfortunately you have to get the product that your computer supports.

Hope you sort that out and end up with something that works for you

Best Regards
Christopher

PS. if you make a free account here : http://audiodeluxe.com you can get the full version of PT11/10 bundle for 441 dollars

We buy from Audiodeluxe all the time and they are legit.

The AVID solution seems like the wrong way to go at this point. The world revolves around Mac and Microsoft not around an unstable company like Protools (i guess its AVID now), and only around Mac for those living in China for any length of time as in my case (or lose all to virus).

The avid link i included above says $700. Forums warn that if I install the LE I bought 2 years ago, I will be stuck with problems, negating possibility of the $400 upgrade, where-ever that is. I assume the audiodelux bundle means upgrading LE if i foolishly re-install it.

Based on JFreak's statement that I "have changed to Mavericks and that hasn't been Avids decision", JFreak you must mean that 1 or 2 Mac upgrades down the road unless I put my life on hold instead of follow the world and upgrade my Mac (lets guess circa 2014), I again will be SOL if i stupidly follow the world and upgrade the Mac, again making my $700 investment useless. This would be because AVID again will say, DOH!, sorry, you upgraded you computer's operating system so you can not use PT 10 or 11 anymore. But hey! friend, we have this new PT 14 available for $2400. That is, the current price of $700 times the 300.5% increase since the last purchase I made.

It seems i'd be a dum dum to do it again. Alternative suggestions would be very much appreciated.
