Default Will the NEW (?) ProControl be at AES?

In this Mix Magzine Article you can read a little teaser:

"In fact, Garay has been a beta tester for Digidesign. He says that he hopefully had considerable input into their new Pro Control unit."

(third paragraph from the end)

It will be very interesting to see what direction Digi takes with a new controller. I hope that it's very buyer configurable in terms of features (versions for post, versions for music mixing, I/O options, ashtray next to the scrub wheel, etc.).

As I understand it, the ProControl was much more successful than Digi anticipated; not only in terms of numbers sold, but the fact that so many people paid so much for it.

If it's a MEGA controller with LOTS of virtual pots/faders and extensive displays designed to make a room that once had a huge desk in it still feel like there's a giant hunk of million dollar hardware dominating the room, then unfortunately it will have to be VERY expensive if only to make people feel justified in swapping it in. Psychology at work.

It will also be interesting to see whether Digi can sell the new PC to the broader demographic of current ProControl owners and the top tier elite doubters they want on board, or chooses to eschew one group for the other.

Darn it!! I had plans to be at AES but fate conspired against me, otherwise I'd be reporting the news. Guess we'll have to wait until tonight's drinking wears off in the morning before anyone checks in with a post.

Has your connection said anything about a controller from Digi that might be smaller than the Control 24 and cost less. I am about to upgrade to an HD3 Accel system and I don't really want to get a Mackie Control and the PC is just too expensive for 16 faders for right now.

I caught this a while back too. People were speculating that something new at a sweetwater event would be this device.

Alas, it doesn't occupy floor space @ AES (though the current ProControl has a rather large presence, with EditPacks and the such).

I still don't understand why Accel debuted in Europe, and why would Digi debut a product for TDM systems at a conference geared more towards those selling LE equipment? Then again, the debuted HD @ NAMM (though I suspect that was because AES NY the preceeding month was barren).

They must know what they are and aren't doing though. They've made the cash to backup their decisions.

IBC in Amsterdam ?????????? guess you have no idea of the size and importance to the Broadcast world that little conference has. to give you a clue ... AES last year was at the same exact location .... it occupied half a hall. IBC occupied 8 Halls. And hardly LE like equipment in there either.
