Solo is muting everything in 12.8.3 - Help!

Always worked fine prior to going to 12.8.3 . Now does not work since update. I am using all of the Default i/o settings. When I select Solo on any Bussed chan, there is still meter activity, but no sound from anything. I read in the manual something about needing the Surround Mixer plug-in? But then only HD does Surround... my system is the 32 chan max for $600 bucks software only, so I am confused.

I did find that when every track is assigned to it's own OUTPUT, that the solo works on them... but if I change these tracks to Buss outputs, and make a stereo Aux and Master with a stereo output... then nothing will solo. Everything goes silent.

I use a PC and RME RayDat interface. RayDat is set to Default as well. Can't figure out why I am not hearing my "Solo in-place"?

In PT we call it "solo safe", on mac it's cmnd-click on solo button. Look it up in the Ref. Guide.

I think “solo defeat” can be other DAWs.

Thanks Ben, I'll read again but maybe I'm missing something but the everything in the project worked great until I updated. After updating, there is no sound when I hit solo... dead! Why would anything change, when I didn't change anything? Thanks.

Nothing to do with upgrades.
What changed was you routing the tracks to an aux.
And when you solo the aux, the tracks feeding the aux are silenced.
UNLESS you solo safe them like I suggested.
Basic stuff.
In the manual.

Never changed the routing. Same project as before. All my tracks go to a St Aux by way of input then output to Master. Always worked fine. Never changed anything. Not getting much help here. I don't know if you guys are understanding what I am saying or not. Never changed a thing from before, accept updating. same as it was.

I never mentioned anything about soloing the Aux. I am soloing in-place a track chan... any track, not the aux at all.

Solo safe; for muting other chans while listening to the selected solo'd chan... and not disturbing the mix you are running. This is not what I am doing. i do not have any chans set to solo safe.

As with the other folks here I am almost certain this is your issue. Can you read carefully the reference guide or look up a good tutorial on YouTube about how solo safe works with auxes.

Been reading it for the last 4 days. PT is nothing new to me. Nothing ... was changed. This is a project that was in existence for over 6 months. always was fine until updating from 12.8 to 12.8.3 . Worked... updated - loaded... now doesn't work. all I'm saying.

Lets just say... I'm not new at this and I'll leave it at that. Obviously, something has changed somewhere and it wasn't me. Could it be a buss routing the i/o settings? I appreciate you trying to help but I'm just not getting anyone that seems to be following what I am describing here. I wish a moderator could step in to ask a few questions???

Thanks Daryl... I've done it, and feel that I have exhausted the possibilities.
No luck in resolving this "ghost". Thanks for your reply.
