D Control replacement faders (or repair?)
So I have some faders failing on my DCONTROL. I suspect the little motors in them are starting to fail as they are getting tight. However perhaps theres lubrication or something else i can do to free them up. Theres no spill or dirt obvious - so I doubt thats the issue. Bottom line is that i dont want to pay $250 a pop to replace them I seem to recall thats what i paid for the first failing fader replacement. Is there a 3rd party supplier or repairer out there? Or is AVID my only choice?

Re: D Control replacement faders (or repair?)
If you experience mechanical problem you can try to buy similar non touch sensitive faders and replace just mechanical part. They are way cheaper.

Re: D Control replacement faders (or repair?)
If you can find the right part your going to be paying about the same money for a single fader.
P&Gs are not cheap parts.

Re: D Control replacement faders (or repair?)
Thanks for the advice gents. As it turns out a little liquid silicone on the track has revived the faders to full functionality. I figured I had nothing to lose by trying - and this seems to have sorted it. I will post back about how it goes in a few months (if I remember!) so others who search the question have this reference.

Re: D Control replacement faders (or repair?)
Hi there,
I've replaced 2 faders on my D-Control so far, and have another one sticking. It would be great if some silicone lube would free it up.....how did you apply it to the track? Just with a swab? You still have to remove it from the fader bank, right? Or no? |

Re: D Control replacement faders (or repair?)
I removed the fader and sprayed a small around on the the plastic and metal track below. You may be able to do it in place - I had already removed them before I decided to try. Good luck. Mine are now working great.
