external drive forces me to quit
If I have a session open, and need to transfer a file onto my computer from any external usb device, when I come to ejecting the drive I am prompted with a message telling me 'the device cannot be ejected because it is in use'.
So I have to quit my PT session, just so I can eject the external drive. Why? |

Re: external drive forces me to quit
Pro Tools adds the drive to the available volumes in the workspace browser - so that you can transfer files into your session.
As it remains there, you cannot eject it, because if any application is addressing a drive, the OS won't allow you to remove it.

Re: external drive forces me to quit
you can unmount the drive from the Workspace browser in Pro Tools
you do not have to quit Pro tools to unmount a drive
