Default OT: Do all of the dual 1.25s have firewire 800

I couldnt find this info in the apple store. I own one, and couldnt find it in about this computer. I saw someone in a post that eluded to the idea of firewire 800 in these units, but I am unsure.
Does anyone know how I could check on my mac, or do all of them have it.
thanks for answering such a stupid question that is unrelated to digi.

Not all of them have it - the first rev of the MDD mac's had a top of the line dual 1.25 (superdrive) with only firewire 400 ports. The second rev had firewire 800 ports and went up to dual 1.42 G4's, with a middle model at dual 1.25 (combo drive). The model they currently sell on the apple store is the first model, which has only FW400 ports.

Not sure which one you have? Well, do you have a firewire 800 port on the back of your computer? That would be the first clue

good find dkrz. thanks. i guess I got the 2003 dual 400 which sucks, but whatever. I guess they went back down from the 800 to make the G5 single processors seem more intising than a cheap G4. i have heard the dual 1.25s and up are faster than the single P. G5s. Has anybody used other audio editors pulling more than 32 tracks from a firewire 400 drive? If so what program and how many tracks can a 400 pull?
thanks
ryan

Folks in the TDM forum were getting 64 tracks off one drive with moderate success, so it would seem the track counts can get up there. I'm sure edit density, sample rate and bit depth play a big role as well. If you want more results, search the TDM forum for 'firewire results' or 'firewire drives' - there's lots of documented cases.
