Default GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R and HD Native + HD Omni ?

Hello.

I built my core i7 pc on reccomendations from the wonderful http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=238426 thread.
I see atleast 7 other experienced DUC users has the same motherboard. I'v got the revision 1.6.

It's been working ok on PT8 LE, but a little unstable on PT9. I wonder if anybody had tried this motherboard with PT8 HD, the new HD Native card + one of the new interfaces ?

I'm thinking about buying a Native/Omni solution, but would like to know if this motherboard will work at all. If not i'll have to also buy a new mac pro.

Thanks:)

A known working configuration for HD Native is a GA-X58A-UD3R Rev.2 FC board. X58A and EX58 boards have the same Intel X58 Chipset. So there should be no reason why a Native Card can't run on a GA-EX58-UD3R with either Pro Tools 8.5 or Pro Tools 9.0.

Thanks filosofem.

So i might have to get the rev 2.0 version of the GA-X58-UD3R (I have rev.1.6). But still that is less expensive that getting a new mac pro.

I'm not so sure that he isn't implying that its a configuration issue as opposed to a chipset or board related issue. What exactly is going on making you feel thats its less than stable?

Nah. I misread it. I thought you already had HD Native and it was acting up on your current board. Some how I missed the part on you currently running PTLE 8 and looking to upgrade to something more stable.

My dog woke me up at 4AM so she could go chase the deer out of the back yard I was less than fully awake when I posted. Sorry!

Ummm... yes chrisdee, GA-X58A-UD3R Rev.2 is cheaper than a Mac Pro and worth the motherboard upgrade but GA-EX58-UD3R should work too. Though there are options for using the GA-X58A-UD3R board with your existing components.
