Wooo, did you recognize: they don't just model amps now. No, the Pod HD goes far beyond that. THEY'VE EVEN MODELLED SEAN HALLEY!!
Look at this "Andy Z" guy...even the little chinbeard...good copy, though he speaks not half as fast as Sean...rofl...

The amp they've built looks really cool too:

http://line6.com/dt50/

In particular there's a low power mode where @ low volumes the DSP emulates the power tube distortion, but as you turn it up, the amp favors the analog tubes distorting and backs off the DSP power tube distortion.

Could be the missing link to that "amp in the room" feel.

Lots of marketing certainly, so we'll all have to wait to see if it pans out.

Would be pretty interesting to hear what the Avid marketing guys think about they 11R and what the road map is now.

Ah ha ha! That's great. I was thinking to myself, "the only marketing thing they left out was Sean selling me the gear. If they had that I would've busted out the plastic already." ;-)

I've just listened to the sound clips on the website. The clean blackface deluxe and the plexi sound quite impressive as well as the bassman at the end of the list, but there's a lot of that typical Line6 effects-overkill-[bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep] in there as well. Just listen to "Atlantis Carries" or "Clav Synth Sauce"...brrr, is that what I've been waiting for???

Some of the cleans were awesome on the clips. But a lot of the higher gain and distorted stuff sounded like a toy. Boo. I'll wait till these hit the stores so i can give it a run, but from the sound clips, i don't think these will be on par with the 11R.

I agree I was quite taken with the clean tones, but, everything else was a bit ... meh, to downright awful. Even the harmonised clips sounded crap - and I was hoping these would be really good. This was supposed to be the Axe FX killer.

I was hoping the HD500 unit would be really good and give the Avid dev guys a kick up the backside and give us some features we've been asking for. But they are probably all rolling around on the floor laughing their asses off.

Man, I am so disappointed . I'll go and cry myself to sleep.

So many of these kinds of units can not just stand on their own, which is why they layer so many effects. Like Eleven or not, but the tones stood on their own on the Plugin at least......

I too think most of the HD "Sounds" sound gimmicky, over processed and covered in effects. As a past owner of a Line6 Flextone III XL and a M13, I hear no improvement in the sound clips for the HD provided on their web site.

I would have to agree with that.

I think the "HD", now stands for 'Highly Dubious'.

But I really feel sorry for all the young kids and teens who have bought into the marketing hype and bought these things on pre-order. Shame on you Line 6, shame.
