Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig
Major development!
Transferring license to iLok 1 (big ugly blue one) did the trick! But I need both iLoks working. Any tips? |

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig
One more interesting tid bit...
Pluging the iLok 2 in once more, even though the HD 10 Auth is on the old iLok, brings the system back into its crummy slow state where it takes 10 min to load PT HD. I really hope someone can help! |

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig
Major development. Well, for me anyway.
I managed to get the onboard sound working. Thanks temetrepo - that wasn't quite it, but I learned something from it, and I can't quite figure out what did it, but it works. I don't go near the VIA thing. Instead, there's an icon in the bottom of the tray and clicking on that brings up a fader. Clickin on the top of that I go to the advanced tab and set whatever rate as default, and that's it. I've tested it thoroughly (with digicheck on my RME soundcard on the same computer) and am happy that it passes 24 bit when asked. PM me if you want to do the same and I'll try and figure out what I did... |

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig
ILOK 2 working fine here.
Are you putting it in a USB 3 slot? I had some problems there.

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig
You might check your BSD name in the about this mac/hardware/Ethernet Cards. iLok2 needs to see the primary BSD name en0. On a hack its easy to set the primary to en1 or en2 by having more then one network during set up. Worth a look.

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig
What an amazing thread!
I owe all of you guys a pint or 3. I'm gonna order my parts asap (hopefully by this afternoon) - i7/Jetway/32gb ram, etc.. 4 questions for those who know: 1. Case & Coolers. I currently have a monster of an "IsoRaxx" isolation rack that is in my control room -- and it really works -- but I had 3 CPUs in there -- now that I am building a replacement for all 3 (into one box) - the IsoRaxx can go (and my control room will appreciate the extra floor space) -- however, I'd like my build to be as quiet as a Mac Pro -- I have no preference (rack case vs. full tower) -- I would simply like the components to be as quiet as possible without causing excessive heat to damage the parts. I'm also willing to spend a bit more for a more convenient build. My last build was a total PITA and I know there are better engineered cases now -- easy slide-in drive sleds, etc... I would prefer an easy-access case for drive swapping, just because. But quiet performance is my #1. I would give up convenience for quiet. WHAT are you guys using for "Mac Pro quiet" cases and coolers? (assuming the stock intel cooler is not sufficient or too noisy?) - even if the case costs slightly more? 2. GPU -- my primary monitor is a Dell 30" DVI. 2560x1600. I'd also like to be able to drive a 2nd monitor as well -- but see #1 -- I want super quiet (fanless) GPU. freddarr, your Zotac 8400GS has a fan. Are there any dual DVI that can support 2x 2560x1600 that are fanless? What are you guys using for the Jetway that works? 3. Memory coolers. Needed? I'm gonna have 32gb ram. 4. Power supply. See #1. I invested in a whisper quiet power supply for my old PC build (Enermax) and it performed as expected. What power supply are you guys leaning toward for the "Mac Pro" experience? Thanks again to all contributors to this thread. Best, J
