My waveforms look weird now and I don't know why lol [SOLVED]

I was about to create a session and I decided to check out the templates just out of curiosity. I clicked the Hip Hop one, looked around, then closed it and was ready to move on and work. I imported some audio files into a fresh session without a template and now they look like this (see attached screenshot)

They look heavily compressed and scrunched. They did not look like this earlier and I am confused. Earlier you could see the dynamics, in fact I probably under compressed most of these tracks. Now they just look like big fat lines. Anybody know why? How can i revert back to my prior settings?

I don't think they sound any different. I just think it's weird they look like this now and want to know why and what I did and how to reverse it.
