Default Not recieving USB MIDI

I've been struggeling for this 4 ages.
PT 11 doesn't recognize my usb midi.
It used to but after a couple of updates it doesn't anymore.

I have tried:
Playing on my Korg Kronos with the latest usb-driver installed.
The keyboard checked as input device.
With and without creating Kronos as instrument in Midi-Studio.
(trying both created instrument & Kronos[emulated] as input for midi)
Instrument track armed.

I have the same issue with Roland GR-55.
Tried the same stuff.

When i use them with Toontrack EzKeys I have no problems.
Using a standard MIDI cable I recieve midi information...

I run PT 11.3.1 under Windows 10.

On Windows, you need to setup your external devices in the Midi Studio setup window(inside PT, Setup>Midi>Midi Studio). You create an "instrument" for each external controller. Name them as you like(brand and model are not required). The crucial setting here is the Input and Output Ports so that PT knows where to "look for" incoming midi Here is a screen shot of a simple example:

Already tried that:

In Midi Studio I have to list my emulated instrument as input/output. Still doesn't work...

Hmmm, I agree that it looks like you have it correct. Curiously, I see you are on Windows 10. I am installing a new computer here that also runs Windows 10 and my USB-Midi interface is showing correct, but also is not working.........

Followup a few hours later...after uninstalling and re-installing a third time, disconnecting my Komplete Kontrol S49, reconnecting the MOTU, tested and failed, re-connect S49, test again and now everything works. Things that make you go "Hmmmm"

Any clue on what made it work?

Seems like the old Windows device recognition dance is happening again (had that back in Win XP). The MOTU you mention - is that by any chance the MOTU MIDI Timepiece AVUSB? If it is - when is the last time you changed the internal battery? When that starts dieing all kinds of issues can happen with it.

No, My MOTU box is a Fastlane USB 2x2 and it just got retired today as it refuses to work consistently on windows 10. I left the studio yesterday with it working and fired up today to have it not working. after 3 days of chasing my tail, I gave up, went to GC and bought an iConnect2. after 5 minutes of setup in the Midi studio window, all is working fine. wonder if it will work tomorrow.............
