Default How let MIDI use my own audio

Hi
I have audio tracks of drum hits i want to trigger with midi.
From what i have understood pro tools 10 dont have that out of the box, so i need to get a virutal instrument software. Am i right?

Is there a recommended software which is free i can use?

If i remember right XPAND2 is a virutal instrument plugin, but dont do the things i discribe if im not wrong

Best,
Andreas

Arturia's Spark program allows you to incorporate your own samples from disc to create a custom kit.

NI Battery can do what the OP wants but being he's on PT10 he'll need the older Battery 3 and not the current Battery 4. Basically any sampler will fill the bill.
