Thanks for the screen shot. What is that other little icon to the right of the main PT icon on the taskbar? That's not normal. You appear to have something else running there. It might be a PT dialogue window. See if you can open it.

This and the 'unable to stop' bug are driving me crazy. But I guess Avid needs to make more money by selling no-new-features PT 12. (end rant.)

In case anybody else comes across this issue - a sure fire way to make the windows viewable is to switch to the task via the task manager.

I have had this problem intermittently. Its doing it again now. After minimizing PT, can't restore from task bar. Have to use Task manager. I did update my NVidia FX 3800 driver, and updated Vienna Ensemble lately. But I rolled both of those back and it made no difference. Also at about the same time, the Enter key stopped working for placing Memory Locations. Remedied this by hitting number lock a couple of times. Strange....am using a keyboard with PT shortcuts on the keys.

I'm wondering if the window expanding problem has something to do with the video engine? who knows?

I know this is an old thread but posting a solution that I just discovered to save anyone the trouble of sorting this.

For me the solution was to remove the cd in my drive. Once removed I am able to Min/Max without issue.

Wow, that is one of the craziest things I ever heard, but sure enough, I just installed a new graphics card (EVGA GTX1050) in my old PC (Windows 10, Pro tools 12.4), and I had this exact experience.

I'd left the driver installation CD in the DVD bay after install, and when I fired up Pro Tools, the window was not retrievable by any means after minimizing. Pro Tools was still running in the background, but I lost all control over it ... all I could do was exit. I was skeptical after reading this thread, but I removed the CD, and voila!, problem solved.

I never noticed this with my previous graphics card, but I probably never tried to run Pro Tools with anything in the DVD drive bay ... maybe this has always been true?

Anyway, thank god this was already documented here ... another win for the DUC!
