Default Waves Loudness Meter Audiosuite

Is it possible that the Waves WLM does not process 5.1 files in audiosuite?

I was planning to switch my DMM2 in our new post studio and use the WLM as an alternative but not being able to do 5.1 QC's faster than real time is kind of annoying. May be it's just me...

Serge,

I know this doesn't help much, but I'm pretty sure I remember doing WLM in Audiosuite across 5.1 segments to get a number. It processed fairly quickly, but it took me a minute to find and open the results file. They're not hidden deeply, and I think you can change the destination folder.

I think you have to Select Off-Line CSV File under Logging to use Audiosuite, and I also think you have to actually close the WLM instance for the file to be written to disk.

Best,
Peter

And speaking of WLM, does anybody have any network- or client-specific presets they're willing to share?

Peter,

Thanks for the tip but somehow I don't feel really comfortable doing a quality check on a 5.1 mix if I don't see the 5.1 WLM in the audio suite selection window.

Mikerophonics,

I heard good stuff about the Nugen. But since I already own the WLM, I might compromise and deal with the "audio suite" drawback for now. I'm just surprise
a major company such as "Waves" didn't not think about implementing the WLM 5.1 audiosuite option...

What he said. Tried them all. Nugen really has their act together for meters.

When measuring LKFS via AudioSuite I wish these plugins could write the LKFS level as an inverse offset to Volume automation. Perhaps this would allow you to measure a file, paste the resulting automation into a VCA master and have a CALM compliant level trim applied automatically. Practically I would use this automation as a visual marker where the major level issues are and tweak manually.

I couldn't possibly comment on Nugen and their beta software and where they are going......but watch this space...

Nugen offer an audiosuite instant correct LMCorrect plug - does what it says on the tin. Get the mix in the ball park (I manage within an LKFS without trying remotely hard) and render. More liquorice tea anyone?

cheers

Well dog my cats, as Pogo would say. I highlighted a 5.1 mix, selected Sound Field in AudioSuite, and sho'nuff WLM is only available in mono and stereo.

And I know better than to tangle with Peter Cole!

In my defense it was a year ago and I used it real time across segments I was watching back to idiot check. Lame excuse, but it's all I got.

Yes, I've got that one too. I'm not a fan of doing that as my stems won't equal my Print Master.

I'll keep my eyes glued to this space...
