% error on fostex dat machine??
could anyone explain what the % error readout on a fostex dat machine represents? the manual doesn't really go into detail as to what it's displaying the error for. the reason i ask is that i'm trying to load some simuldats for a project there have been annoying timecode problems (although the fostex displays the t.c. as continuous) however, the % error readout varies considerably from 0 to .1, to as high as 2.0.
thanks |

Re: % error on fostex dat machine??
that shows how much error correction is being implemented at any given time. 0 to 2% is fine. you would start hearing a kind of "smearing" if it went up to about 10%.
i would imagine your time code probrems stem from bad timecode to begin with. the only sure way to know is to analyze it w/ a device like the "brainstorm sr-15". good luck, lance |
