Default Pro Tools 11 - Any expected release date yet?

Agree agree - but it does happen - and I'm sure there are some respectable companies out there but yes I agree

I'm sure it happens all the time and you get other work done while contracting (can anyone say 11rack upgrades expansion packs and stand alone editor)

Happy customers are generally good paying customers and repeat customers

If the code is modulized enough its possible to have one part of the team doing their thing without exposing all your IP. Its not as good as doing everything in house obviously. This is why project managers earn their paychecks. I got thinking about this and and remember hearing that the 7.x era Assertion Error/Bla-bla-blah/Altura Ports/Bla-Bla-Blah referred to a company that did subcontracting for Digi. I have no proof of that. Only that that was the word at the time. Obviously your not going to get a answer from Avid. During the Avid restructuring - probably before Avid hired Kirk Arnold who is/was a outsourcing specialist. There were several rounds of layoffs amid belt tightening measures. At this point I would assume most of the grunt work is taking place overseas. Pure speculation on my part. I'm just saying that outsourcing software development is nothing new and that Avid and Digi have probably been doing it for quite some time. The fact that they hired Kirk Arnold which is public knowledge is nearly a confirmation of that. This is of course only my speculation and opinion. Outsourcing may not speed things up at all either since there's a learning curve for the coders.

Reading about someone with assertion error in another thread got me thinking about this.

I talked to my representative at Sweetwater, and he said that the guys from Avid are coming in their HQ tomorrow (Tuesday). I asked him if they know a release date yet, but he said that is something that will be discussed when they come in. Although, he did speculate that it will probably be sometime in May. So hopefully. That's just what I heard though so don't take it too much to heart and get disappointed

I have actually heard (my girlfriend's ex boyfriends sister in-law who used to work at Digidesign said) that they might be announcing PT11 pretty soon - everyone stay tuned
