Default Plugin issues and DAE errors

Since my old thread is dead and buried, I'm trying again... When running PT, I get this:
Quote:
Pro Tools could not load the following plug-ins either because no valid authorization could be found, the iLok key was not connected or the plug-in was damaged:

AmpegSVXUNO.dpm
AmpliTube2.dpm
Anyone else get these to work? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling them to no avail.

Another issue: Every time I close PT, it freezes and crashes with this error:
Quote:
Pro Tools Application has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
What's that all about?

On big sessions with lots of edits, I get this fun error:
Quote:
The maximum total number of audio or fade files has been exceeded. You can reduce the number of files by consolidating audio or removing unused files from the session. (-9169)
That's followed up quickly by this:
Quote:
DAE error -9060 was encountered.
Then this:
Quote:
DAE error -9031 was encountered.
Then this again:

Quote:
DAE error -9060 was encountered.
What is this limit? How many files are allowed now?

Which version numbers of those plug-ins do you have installed? Do they launch in standalone mode and, if so, can you authorize them there before launching Pro Tools?

You should start by doing all the optimizations in the General Troubleshooting thread - look for the specific Windows 7 links that will take you to kbase articles for the optimizations (or the videos, if you prefer.).

How many tracks, regions and fades do you estimate you have in this session?

Which drive are you using for playback of this session?

Can you try doing a 'Save Copy In' to a different drive and choose the option to copy all media, then close the current session and open the saved copy - does the problem still occur?

I would also recommend removing all the USB storage devices other than hard drives - it appears you have several attached.

I've got Amplitube 2 v2.1.4, and Ampeg SVX UNO v1.1.1 installed. They both launch just fine in standalone mode. They are both authorized already. They also both work fine in 9.0 (upgraded from 8) on my Macbook Pro.

As for the optimizations, I don't think I did any of them with 8.0.4 (besides Processor Scheduling) and that ran wonderfully. Are there any particular optimizations you can suggest that would be likely to fix the crash on closing PT? I have already done the Processor Scheduling one, I disabled USB Power Management, and I disabled DEP, all with no effect.

There were 42 tracks (including audio, instrument, aux tracks and a master) in the session that gave me the "max number" error. There were 365 audio files in the session's Audio Files folder, and 9662 fade files in the Fade Files folder. I'm using the 700GB internal SATA drive as my audio drive, which is the same one I used with 8.0.4.

I did a "Save Copy In" to another drive, and got the same errors. However, when I consolidated my drum tracks (which I'd Beat Detectived, thus the ton of fades), and then removed unused audio and did another "Save Copy In", it played back fine from the 700GB drive. That process left just 589 fade files and 362 audio files. So it seems it was the number of fade files that was the issue. Can you tell me what the new, lower, limit on the number of fade files is now in 9.0?

Thank you for responding!

I finally let PT move Amplitube and Ampeg SVX UNO to the unused folder, and lo and behold, the crashing on closing PT has gone away. So it seems highly likely those were related.

So now the unanswered questions are:

1) How can I get Amplitube 2 and Ampeg SVX UNO to work in PT9 on Windows 7? They work fine in Snow Leopard.
2) What are the limits on files and fades per session?

Have you tried a new download and install of those plug-ins?

You may need to contact IK to see if they can walk you through trashing all the files related to those plug-ins before reinstalling, as that likely will help.

Uh oh. I routinely have sessions in 7.3.1 with 3-4 thousand fade files. That comes of editing a dozen or more lengthy spoken word messages in the same session. If 9 can't handle that, I'm probably going to stay with 7.3.1 at work until a version emerges that can.

About the IK plugs, I had the same problems when I tried to install them by dragging and dropping the plug-in files from my XP partition into the Win7 partition. Installing fresh and going through their awkward little re-authorization routines again solved it.

Question Re: Plugin issues and DAE errors

I contacted IK and they advised me to remove and reinstall the plugins as admin, and then to run PT as admin. It worked! I had PT8 checked to run as admin, but I guess I never set that for 9. Oops.

However, I would still love an answer about the limits on the number of files and fades per session! What are the new limits?

There are NO specific limits! Thousands of things contribute to RAM usage in Pro Tools - files and fades only being one of them.
