Default USB-HDMI adapters????

Is anyone using one of these with success? I'd like to add a 3rd screen to my rig and wondered about these as they are cheaper than adding another graphics card

I have not. Get one from a place with a good return policy.

Have not personally used one, but people have told me they work. I have always been skeptical, but now that I have been using air display (turns my ipad into a touchscreen monitor via wifi), My guess is they probably work fine.

OWC has them, and they work for Windows as well. There's both USB 2.0 and 3.0.

I suspect (But don't know for a fact) that these probably require a little CPU intervention once and awhile.

It would be funny if the worked with Waves and multi monitors.

Yeah, I was having a conversation about those very points this afternoon. I may end up adding a cheap graphics card after all as I can only imagine the USB route must steal a bit of memory and cpu to do its thing(hadn't thought about that when I posted the original question). Its on the back burner for the moment as I am trying to move to HDN-land with a new HD IO
