Default Can't change Automation modes with Control

Can't seem to figure out why I can't change the automation mode of a track in PT9.

According to manual:

To select the Automation mode for a track on Artist Control or Artist Mix:
1 Hold SHIFT while pressing the REC/AUTO key on a track.
2 Press SHIFT+REC/AUTO again to cycle to the next available automation mode such as Off, Read,
Latch, or Touch. Not all modes will be available; for additional modes, use the mouse and the onscreen track Automation mode selector.

I assume the "shift" is from the far bottom bottom on the center part of the Control.

Doesn't work. Tried with KB as well, to no avail.
On a VCA channel, nothing.
On an Audio channel it puts it into record

MAC 10.6.6, PT9.03, Eucon 2.6

I'M on MAC. Just created a new session. Same thing. Shift (on the control) + Auto/REC = track in record ready.

Shift+fader does not set to zero either. Even though it is checked in the prefs.

AVID just told me they were going to deal with the automation modes in the next release. So is there any one on Mac that can confirm automation modes, or what seems to be, operations using shift and tracks, don't work in 2.6

Mac OS : 10.6.7
Eucontrol : 2.5.7
Pro Tools HD : 9.0.3
MC Mix 1 Firmware : 1.4.4
MC Control Firmware : 1.2.6
MC Mix 2 firmware : 1.4.4

Automation modes toggle by using Shift button +"Auto" (Rec button) : WORKS on all three surfaces.

Fader Set to Zero : Using Shift + touching Fader, WORKS on all three surfaces.

Cheers

Wish I knew what was going on with it.

Tried it on 3 different PT9 systems, same thing. I have noticed the shift key acts like it is stuck, even though the LCD doesnt show it as being active.

Very strange. after I hit the shift key and let it go, and go to select a region in PT, it acts as if I'm holding it down and selecting multiple tracks.

So I'm a complete idiot.

I've been using the Shift button in the center.

Today, or this evening, I look at the Control and said, "What's that unlabeled button".
The one at the bottom left of the unit.

Low and behold, that's the shift button. And the automation modes now change.

Why I never noticed that button before while sitting in front of me. I don't know.

I guess no one here noticed I wrote this:
"I assume the "shift" is from the far bottom on the center part of the Control."

Either way, It works. Thanks.

In this case, Ignorance, is truly not bliss...

The User Guide, page 27 :

Chapter4: SurfaceControls

Figure 4-1 MC Control surface

4.2 Shift Key
The Shift key is used in conjunction with other keys to access the functions la-
beled in blue above the primary function. Press and hold the Shift key, found at
the MC Control’s bottom-left and -right, then press the other key.
The User Guide uses the following simplified terminology to describe Shift func-
tions: “press the Shift + APPLICATION keys” is written as “press the WORKSTATION key.”
