Files not gone after select unused+clear

I deleted all alt playlists from session.
Selected unused, then cleared. All audio is still in the region bin.
Tried clearing the undo list, still there.
Anyone?

Hi !

Please check that you don't have any tracks hidden in the left track menu . Maybe there some hidden tracks there that aren't being consolidated .

Delete the undo history and try again.

Just to keep things clear , you said select unsused but did you consolidated all the audio ?

Export the tracks into a new session and copy audio... you'll see if those files are really unused .

Did not consolidate but these tracks have only material from 2 playlist and I've cleared 17 other playlists

Ok remember that protools can record multiple audio takes on the same audio channel . So i maybe a good idea to consolidate all the tracks if you are shure that you have the " official takes " on top . Then select and clear unused . Thats what i would do ! .

ok, here is my guess ..

since the Audio was recorded on Those Tracks that are in the Session with the Main Playlist being USED (even though playlists it is still the track(s) that exist i the session still)

so can you try one thing for me .. if you have not tried this already ..

Take one Track and Move the Main Clip to a Newly Made Track .. then delete the Track you just moved the Clip from (this would be the original track that clip came from)

my guess is that the Clips in your Bin are tied to the Track due to being Playlist Audio for that Track .. so if you delete the track the audio should then be free to be Cleared or Deleted in the Clip Bin ..

might want to do a Save Session Copy In before you do that unless you feel confident that you will NOT lose any of your Work ..

and if this is just something that you think will not work, please just disregard this reply .. i will see if i can test this here ..

Something I have experienced since the days of PT8...

I always select unused and then the clear selected clips from session commands 3-4 times in a row. Every single time, it will select more clips even though I just cleared out all unused clips. Not sure why it happens, but it has for years, and I just made a habit of doing the command sequence for it multiple times in a row. I don't think I have ever had to go more than 4 times to get it all.
