Default Question about laptop and external hard drive

Hi,

I need to record vocals on my laptop because I travel.

I need to use another drive for recording.

Should I buy a laptop with two internal drives?

Or can I use an external drive in conjunction with my current old laptop?

If external drive, what are some good options?

I can't seem to find the right forum!

Thanks!
