Default As promised, Digi 002 Review

Finally... Here's a link to my Digi 002 review.

http://www.musicgearnetwork.com/cgi-...=010252#000000

In the interest of impartiality, I have posted the review over on the Musicplayer.com forums. If you have any questions or comments, you can either place them on the thread that I linked to above (where the review is located) or in this thread.

I hope you enjoy it, and that it is useful to some of you who may be considering a Digi 002.

Phil,
Good job on the review. Well written and detailed in all the right spots.

BTW, what outboard mic-pre do you suggest for $1000 or less. Just curious...

Thanks,

It's a nice unit S.O. Stone... other than a few minor niggles (which I hopefully spelled out in the review), I found very little to fault it for. Of course, different people have different needs, working methods and preferences. But personally, I really think it is a grat product.

G.Roots, what mics do you want to use it with? What is the musical genre? What other mics / preamps do you have? Do you want "clean / transparent" (Grace 101, FMR RNP)or "colored and flavored" (single Great River NV "Neve" styled pre)? Do you need a mono pre or do you have to have stereo? What instruments are you going to record - or are you doing vocals with it? If so, what's the vocalist sound like?

EVERYTHIN effects everything else, so it's hard to say "what's best" - "what's best" for "this" might not be "best" two hours later on "that".

Give me a bit more info and maybe I can offer some suggestions of things to check out. Once you've done that, let your ears be the final judge.

Phil, outstanding review! Very comprehensive with just the right balance of "personal take". Ever thought about contributing to some of the muso-mags (keyboard, e-musician, etc)?
