Default HELP! Mac/002r Errors Galore!

I need advice from all who know....could my computer be maxed out or misconfigured? I get buffer errors, firewire errors, slow playback start times, excessive crashing, etc. I’m using 6.4LE on a G41.25 Gig machine and I figured it would handle 28 to 32 tracks at 88 or 96k with a fair amount of plugs but no. The problem children seem to be Altiverb and Sony Oxford. I have seperate audio record drives partitioned smaller for faster read, firewire...whatever it can’t really keep up. I’m fairly new to all this but what I’m getting at is do you guys think a dual processor machine is a better option? I can’t really afford a G5 so possibly a G4 dual.

All advice appreciated!
