Angry Latency Issues

I am using Pro-tools 8.0.4 and I have a huge latency problem when I record. There is an echo in the headphones. I have decreased the buffer and I have turned down the mix knob on my MBOX 2. ANYONE HELP PLEASE

are you recording to an external hard drive or to the system drive? this could make a difference (recording to an external hard drive is better!) look in the setup guide for how to properly set the the buffer settings & other related settings when situations like this arise. if you have the pro tools le 8.0 book then it should start at page 26. Read 26-34.

If you MUTE the track you are recording to, then use the MIX knob to balance your new vocal(or whatever you are recording) with the existing tracks, there should be no echo.

OK but I am using an external drive to record to. Any other suggestions? Its kinds hard to ride a beat if you can't hear it while recording.

Turn the MIX knob to the middle. You will hear the tracks AND your incoming vocal.
