Delay Compensation using Side Chain

Hi!

I've recently struggled with a strange problem and was wondering is there's a workaround or if someone is having same problems, too.

Basically I have 4 mono tracks (toms) that go into a stereo aux. On this aux I have a gate (tried with the Avid (DSP and Native) and with Sonnox). The gate is side-chained with a trigger track. The problem is that this is simply not working; you can hear the flaming effect...really annoying. If I turn the delay compensation to off then it works like it should. But because this is a mixing stage clearly this is not an option.

I'm on PT10.3.1HD with HDX2 on an OSX 10.8.x.

Is the delay-compensation completely broken or am I missing something here?

Personally even when I do my homework things seem to be missed or in various places that take forever to find on this website... its gotten better over the last few months but is still a crappy search engine and things are very difficult to find... like going through eight links to get to the page you were trying to get to on the first click...
