Default Mellowmuse/Redwirez IR's

Hi guys,

I'm just worndering if anyone out there can give me a couple of pointers.

Someone on the forums (sorry, can't remember who it was now) recommended downloading Mellowmuse as a way of investigating Redwirez IR's on the Eleven Rack/PT LE, but, being a noob, everything wise, I couldn't get anything happening.

It went like this. I got the Mellowmuse plug-in (IR1A) demo and installed it - then went and got the Redwirez free Demo IR's program and installed that as well.

Then I was a bit lost, but, from what I read I thought I should use the Insert Tabs for the 11R track and the Mellowmuse plug-in appeared in the "Reverb" (???) section. I then turned off cabinet modelling, obviously. The next step was to load up a couple of IR models in the Mellowmuse window. So I went to try them out and the sound I was getting, and it was exactly the same sound as the when I turned of cab modelling . So something isn't going to plan.

Now obviously, it's "me" at fault, but I don't know what "me" is doing wrong . So can someone shed a little light on the subject?

Pretty, pretty please!

Hi

I dunno if it will help, but I don't like to use Mellowmuse with Pro Tools, the problem for me with Pro Tools, and this is the reason why I use Cubase 5, is that the sound is not the same as my 11R in standalone mode when I use it with Pro Tools, I detect some latency... To erase this problem, I have to use the "low latency " mode, but in this in case, I can't use any plug-in (ie here mellowmuse), so if I want to use 11R with Mellowmuse, i will still have this latency... so not useful for me.

Have I done something wrong ?

KR

So you are saying that to use this MellowMuse plug-in I have to turn off "Low Latency Monitoring" in Pro-Tools?

plugins are disabled when low latency monitoring is enabled. so to use em, you'd have to turn it off.

turn off llm, but set your hardware buffer setting as low as you can get it for tracking. fw devices on pc will go to 64, 32 on mac, and usb devices will go to 128. that will minimize your latency and should not be noticable. you will want to raise it back up for mixing.

Does muting tracks during recording make any difference when not in "low latency" mode? Does fewer live tracks=less latency?

Is this an option that I need to set in Pro-Tools itself or do I need to go into Control Panel (or something like that)?

It's all in PT.

Shut off "Low Latency Monitoring" which is in the "Options" tab.

Then, select "Playback Engine" which is in the "Setup" tab.

Afterwards, you can set your buffer sizes to whatever you need, whenever you need.

No muting tracks or bypassing plugins will not change your latency. Right clicking on a plug and making inactive will eliminate the latency on that track only. It will save your setting on the plug this way though which is nice
