Default Offset after recording audio routed thru a bus

Hi,

I posted this in Juli 2017 and I'm still having the same problem:

today I recorded some background vocals. Same Setup as always (since years):
2 Mics using two preamps. The 2 outputs of the preamps are connected to Input 1 & Input 2 of my HD i/o.

The two Inputs of the HD i/o are set as input sources of two AuxInputs within PT. The Outputs of the 2 AuxInputs are routed via one mono bus to an audio track so that I can record the two mics as one MonoAudioTrack.

After recording I remarked that the recorded AudioClip had an awful offset (much too late). I tried all kind of trouble shooting, like disabling and re-enabling ADC, changed playback buffer size, disabled dozens of PlugIns ... but no success.

All I could do was to record directly to an AudioTrack without the routing via a bus . Of course I had to use 2 AudioTracks, each set to a different input as I was using 2 preamps plugged into my HD i/o.

Any idea what could have happened and have others seen this, too ?

HD has a random latency bug that affects a relatively small number of users. That could be it. Does the same setup sometimes work properly?

I tried a couple of times using PT 2018.1.0 and MacOS 10.13.2. The same latency problems happened.

When I boot my Mac from an old BackUp-HD (PT HD 11.1.3 & MacOSX 10.9.2 from June 2014), all is fine !

You are correct. There is a bug with this situation. I have mentioned it a few times and it was logged with avid for a future fix but it has not been done.

See this pic. Very easy to see that there is delay comp being added for no reason.
Just set up a few inputs and route to a bus. Then route to a print track.

Is the idea behind this workflow to be able to use LLM while recording with plugs?

I am just trying to understand the benefits of doing it this way

It should be possible to turn off the delay compensation on the Gtr 1 audio track by ctrl-cmd-clicking (Mac) on the delay comp readout. It should turn grey, like a deactivated plugin. Does that help the situation?

This is definitely a bug and should be fixed, but that may be a usable workaround for the moment if it works.

No - no PlugIns.

Just two or more Inputs which should be recorded onto one AudioTrack - thats all !
