Default How to make my guitar sound like it?

Hi Guys!

Yes, it's the noob here again... I love the way the guitar sounds in the song Californication by Red Hot Chilli Peppers... Is there a plug in or setting in/for PT 7.0 LE that will make my Fender sound like it? Or what do you guys use to have "warm" your guitar sound when recording?

Thanks again...
Daubian

You can try the other section in the forum for Music.
Good luck!

Hey Daubian, as has already been pointed out this is the post production and surround sound section of this site, most of the users here are not musicians/working in the music industry.

If you post on the 'Pro-tools host tip and techniques' thread in the LE forum there are many experienced music proffesionals on that board who will be far more knowledgable then most of us Post guys regarding the question you are asking.

Tom

I Think you CAN get that sound with Pro Tools;

1. Buy an early sixties strat (check Ebay
2. Run it into a variety of hard to get amps (Blackface Fenders, Plexi Marshalls, you know the ones)
3. Get out all of your nice mikes (U-47, U-87, Ribbons, what have you)
4. Run those into some preamps of choice (Vintage Neve should be a good starter, otherwise just run it through the SSL)
5. Experiment till you get the sound

6. Then run it into Pro Tools and Bob's your uncle ;-)

You DO play the guitar, don't you?

of course this whole disuccion is besdies the point, but the above means NOTHING with outh the HANDS of a GREAT player making the tone on the first place and locking into the groove.

but, yes, don't post this in a POST forum, and stop thinking that there are quick fixes to great sounds via plug-ins. it takes work! dag-nabbit.

Very true Minister, but I ment to be just a little ironic here ;-) And how about the importance of a pair of great ears that put up the mikes and a room that does the sound justice?
