Default MY Countdown to Leave

As of Today I and several engineers realized how Digidesign team are a bunch of MIDI morons...As of today if by next year Digi hasnt done something about their OMS marriage....why does every other software have its own mid software....and the midi interface they design is just midi...with no buttons no nothing to setup presets so you can program with out turning on protools....and everyone knows the MTC is crap when generated from ProTools...that bugs me so much that OMS hasnt been updated since 97... 2.3.8
what the hell is that...but of course they rather release 002 that is really a 001 with a motormix for $1,000 more then getting the 2 seperate...therefore if by next year no improvement....Digital Performer here I come...wooohooooo......(im kidding i can't crossover...I need protools...ProTools it the Heroin of my engineering life ...besides the Cuban Coffee)

Hehe...Well, I think that with the OSX version of Pro Tools there is no option for Digi other than supporting the Core Midi functions or developing their own standard which they seem to like doing. I don't think they will bother with supporting anything on OS9 though...Anyway, not much longer before we find out cause AES is coming really soon.

In a nutshell, its ridiculous that PT's wont even launch without installing OMS. I hate OMS with a passion. I also beleive it is the source of many problems. always running in the background with its 97 coding. Not cool

From this month's DigiZine:

"But first, a few words about the MIDI "philosophy" of Pro Tools: The program is not the most in-depth of MIDI sequencers. Its architects made a deliberate decision to keep the program's MIDI features as streamlined and simple as possible.

Yet Pro Tools' MIDI features are not as stripped-down as you might suppose. If you've plumbed the arcane depth of other MIDI sequencers, you may sometimes miss particular features absent from Pro Tools. But if you tend to focus on such basics as recording and playing MIDI tracks and performing standard edits, you may find that you actually prefer PT's relatively simple system."

At a recent user conference I was told OS-X support was coming in October - anyone else hear anything (2002 that is).

pluginjunky,

Are you on DP3 or Logic? Which is better? I've heard logic was not as streamlined as DP...I want to run a second midi system with some audio capability for live/portability that will sync back up to PT in the studio.

Okay its been sometime now....LOGIC All the way....its tight it works and the midi is beautiful....of course latency from Midi to Audio is there...but we are talking about 5-8ms....which is fine for me...but with ProTools it was -800 Samples offset for Midi because of OMS and FreeMidi running.....whatever..

LOGIC...nuff said
