Like I said earlier, before my post was deleted (I have no idea why), the 11R seems like it was created to get that VH sound when using the plexi with the greenback cab. It's pretty cool!

Yeah... why was my post deleted too? I think someone may be a little "sensitive".

My first post here so hello everyone!

As for VH, the more I have messed around with this sound I have realized that the guitar makes a huge difference (even the strings). The best sound I have heard recorded on the eleven rack for VH was over on the Metro amp site. The sound is really killer. The guy who recorded the track also uploaded the patch to Eleven Rack forum as VHII. I downloaded that patch and it did not sound anything like his recordings.

So I start tweaking, I have somewhat of an advantage in that I collect old guitars, most all original and have well over 40 to choose from. Every type of pickup you can imagine, so I start trying guitars. The best match, and it sounded just like the clip on Metro (had to turn off the delay), was an old Washburn Eagle with early hand wound SD's. With a newer Jackson, Les Paul, Wolfgang, it was to overdriven.

Mikes patch is also very good and with VH it depends on the album and the song you are trying to play.

I'm going to play around with taking a patch and recording a short clip with a bunch of guitars to see if I can highlight the variability. Its on my to do list. By the way his patch design was very interesting, Dist, EQ, Plexi, Delay, EQ, Reverb. Kinda makes you wonder if Ed had a little fuzz box in one of his old mystery stomp boxes.

I guess no one wants presets for VH songs... that is cool whatever.... just an idea
Maybe I'd pay for them from Ed himself.

Here is the post over at the Metro forum. I don't post there, just read and try to learn.

http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=32787

I think everyone interested in VH on the 11R should listen to these clips. They do sound good and to me the guys playing is very good. I also think I need to quit using headphones and get me some monitors. I think headphones just don't give you the real feel for a patch. Like I said, the patch will probably need a little tweaking.

With the history and mystery surrounding some of Ed's early gear, this patch and the order it is in is really interesting. The use of two EQ's, one in front of the amp and one behind gives most any preset on the 11R some interesting sounds. There is something here.

Sorry but your presets all sound horrible. The Bark at The Moon one for example is just a bunch of hiss and noise and sounds very thin ...??!!??

OK this is turning into one of those endless internet arguments where no one wins but everyone has the opportunity to look like a re-re.

Cary Chilton your presets are amazing they're perfect in every conceivable way and I'm sure that everyone secretly wishes to pay you for them. Your guitar paying is also flawless and accurate to the nth degree and finally you are an incredible person and everyone here loves you and wants to be just like you.
