Default help setting up midi 002r

I am new to midi and I have know Idea how to use it. I just got Xpand and I need to learn how to set my Fantom X8 up so I can take advantage of Xpand. Basically I need a walkthrough on this. Is there anyone that can show me how? I have 2 midi cables hooked up in to out, and out to in. the midi in light on my 002r is blinking. but not the out. I created a midi track and got the level meters to move but got no sound. I know midi is data and read up on how it works. But I can not find any info on setting my X8 up as a midi controller for PTLE. Please help.

Default Re: help setting up midi 002r

One key element missing, a playback source, the rest seems fine.

The MIDI Output on your X8 is basically sending MIDI communication to Pro Tools. The MIDI Input on the X8 is for receiving MIDI communications from Pro Tools, for instance, using the X8 as an external playback module.

Essentially, all you need to do now is to create a Stereo AUX and insert Xpand! and assign the MIDI Output selector to Xpand! MIDI Node 1 Channel 1.

If your running version 7.0 or higher you could use an Instrument track, which basically does what a MIDI/AUX setup would.

Default Trouble Finding DR-880.midnam patch for PT

Help! I am still trying to find the BOSS DR-880.midnam patch. Can anyone give me specifics on where and how to get this patch so that I can midi my Dr.Rhythm into PT?

Thanks

  1. You really don't need the midnam files to make it work with PT; it will work without it. The only thing the midnam file does for you is make it easier to change patches within a Pro Tools session
  2. "MIDI" is not a verb
  3. Your issue is different from the original poster. We call that "thread stealing" and it is generally considered to be rude. You should start your own thread when you have a unique problem.
