Default ACCESS DENIED???

Okay class, I got a strange thing happening and I know you guys can help me with this because you always do.

When I finish with a Pro Tools 5.1 session, I will burn a data CD of all the various files onto CD and store it. Simple enough, right?

Time passes. I need to re-edit something so I re-load the session. It loads in perfectly and comes up perfectly.

Problem: I highlight a part of one of the songs and try to alter it using one of the many "Audio Suite" things I have at my disposal, and it refuses to work. I get this error message that says "ACCESS DENIED" How do I get rid of that???

I can record NEW THINGS into that session and edit those . . . it's just not allowing me to edit things that have been loaded from CD.

This is probably pretty simple, but it's got me whooped. Thanks.

I'm taking a guess here. When something is burned to CD it is changed to a "read only" file. Go to the session folder in windows explorer, right click on it, select properties and uncheck the read only check box. I think that should fix it. Good Luck, Jason

Let me ask you, when you get the files from the CD, and copy them back to your drive (before opening them in PT), are you unchecking 'Read-only' files from them?
If not, here's the easy way(just in case you may not know).
1.'Select all' the files on the CD.
2. Right click any one file(with all of them highlighted), and uncheck 'Read only files'. ALL the files will become unchecked. Choose 'Ignore all' if it comes up.
3.Copy all
4.Paste to the drive of your choice, and open the PT session.
As I say, you may know or be doing this, but if not....

So, you saved it to CD, and now you're trying to work on the copy that remained on the hard disk, or you restored from CD first?

I'd look at the folder and files to see if anything has been set to 'read only'
