Default I am over Apple thinking of moving back to windows advise needed.

I have had it with Apples new overpriced non user upgradeable computers & bloated OS systems.

I own a PT10-11-12 perpetual license,
I have been running Apple hardware & OS & PT since LE7 (2009)
I am currently running OSX 10.8.5 and PT 10

I am seriously thinking about going back to windows & PC.
But all of my sessions are PT 10 saved on Apple OS formatted external glyph hard drives.
Am I going to have issues accessing these sessions on a new PC?
What other problems am I going face moving back to PC?

Eventually I will install PT 12. whatever. When ever it is remotely stable.
Thanks
TWM

See the first page of the i7 Thread above or contact Steve (guitardom) at pro-tools-pc.com. Purpose-built Windows computers from people who know what they're doing and talking about with extraordinary after-sales support. And no, I don't work for them, although, during a Toronto winter, I would like to live in New Mexico

If the PC is properly specced and optimized all should good.

As to your hard drive question, IIRC, you should be able to use MacDrive or similar to use/move the sessions or I believe Paragon Software has a solution. Others will know much better than I.

Cheers,

You can get Mac disk drivers for PCs. I use Paragon. I've had no trouble other than with a few ten year old drives that our MacBook Pro also can't read.

I highly recommend the Pro Tools PC for a ready made machine tested and optimized for Pro Tools. http://www.pro-tools-pc.com. It just sits here and quietly works.

Until I work out a more elegant solution (and it may not ever be needed), I've been copying session folders to a USB3 flash drive on the Mac and transferring them to my PC. It's been working well, at least for my situation.

If I had to transfer all the TBs of sessions that are archived, this would be a bit wearisome, but such is not the case.

Yes just move 'em over via some interchange media, or file sharing and drag 'em all over. If you are giving up on Apple there is no reason to add HFS+ compatibility to your Windows PC. If you are in a mixed environment then what Bob mentioned can be great.

Thumbs up for Paragon. I've been using it to read mac formatted drives on my pc for a long time now. Flawless and completely transparent. It just shows up as a regular drive on your machine.

I've been assembling and running protools on pc since version 7 and have yet to encounter a major hiccup. Read up on the i7 thread and you should be good.

Thanks to all who responded.
I will check out the i7 thread.
And other software suggested.
TWM

PS Yikes over 600 pages to that thread!
That is a bit overwhelming!

Looking more and more like I may join the mass migration to Studio One.

Just look at the first page, new systems are posted there, then ask questions in the thread.

Thanks The Weed and Bob for recommending us, our aim is certainly to provide systems that just work and to take away the gamble and guesswork a self build can pose not just in component selection but configuration too.
We urge our customers to lean on us for help whenever required so you wont ever be alone if you come up against a problem.

I certainly agree with the suggestion of Paragon HFS for Windows as previously mentioned its totally transparent and i've never come across any problems with it since I started using it which is more than I can say from years of use with Mediafour Macdrive.
You wont even need to copy stuff over just run the sessions straight from your Mac formatted drives.
