Default ASIO Driver for Windows 7, Digi002 R?

I just upgraded my PC and I want to use Digidesign's ASIO driver for my 002 rack if possible. On my old machine I had ProTools LE installed, so it was there already. Not looking to install PTLE on this box. Can I just load Digi's driver? I think I'd rather have that than ASIO4ALL.

I tried installing Standalone Windows Audio Drivers v8.0.3, but when I went to record, I got an "Error while opening your audio hardware" - "Error initializing ASIO driver" error.

What should I try next? There must be a way to run my 002 rack on Win 7.

I see there's also a "Standalone Windows Audio Drivers" v7.4 driver and the ASIO driver archive, I'm just afraid some of those won't run on Windows 7.

Does anyone have a link to the correct driver?

Thx!,
Rick

You have to have the AISO driver to use that 002 with windows.......

and it's not Digidesigns nor AVID's it is a 3rd party driver.........

I think that was all you were asking right?

I needed to install 002R under Windows10 for PT 12
I have used 9.0.7 version - it works. I have noticed however it lacks ASIO.
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...02-003-Drivers

Does anybody knows:
1. If I have to install some older driver 9.0.2.65 to get ASIO support?
2. After upgrading to 9.0.7 or 9.0.8 will I keep ASIO support?
3. Or maybe ASIO support for 002/003R is gone? It means - either 9.0.2.65 with ASIO or newer with NO ASIO?

Use the driver from Avid that allows you to use the 002. You will also need a firewire controller with a TI chipset and may have to use a different firewire driver for it, like Legacy. See Avid's optimization and troubleshooting articles. With Windows, you should also/must use your interface ONLY with Pro Tools and set your onboard soundcard as the default for Windows sounds/audio.

Back to PT 6,7,8 times - driver is a piece of software that enables a piece of hardware (which Digi002R is) work with given software. Digidesign/Avid generously used to give driver install with three drivers:
1. WDM/Wave for system (Windows) and various apps that use WDM/Wave,
2. Core Audio for Pro Tools which is native for PT,
3. ASIO driver for apps that use Steinberg ASIO

I assume last ASIO incarnation was in 9.0.2.65 driver, cause it weights 30+MB instead of 4MB that 9.0.7 and 9.0.8 are (yes, they include WDM/Wave driver)
Am I correct?
So what to do if anybody (like me) would eventually think of using that old crappy (lovely?) 002R interface (with old crappy PCIex cards) with apps that use only ASIO, taking advantage of the latest (2014 year made) drivers?

I know that workaround is ASIO4ALL which what name suggests is the solution for ALL problems:) but please forget it for a moment.

I would hazard the guess that 3rd party hardware would be better suited for this type of situation

OK. So there are three possible answers for question so far:
Does modern ASIO driver for Windows 7,8,8.1,10 and 002R exist?

1. Avid 9.0.2.65 that probably works but is 5 years old
2. ASIO4ALL
3. Buy some other interface

Any other ideas? Anybody was able to use 9.0.2.65 ASIO with 9.0.7/9.0.8 Wave/Core?

Keep in mind the 002R is not supported for W10 or PT12. IIRC Avid support ended with PT10.
