Default Pro Tools 10 HD Native / HDX - no upgrade after 2015?

I have a question as an HD Native user but it will be the same for HDX users.

Many of us are not too excited to get into the realm of beta testing of new 64bit architecture of Pro Tools 11 and 12. I would like to keep using Pro Tools 10 HD for at least a year. It doesn't look like there will be Pro Tools 13 anytime soon. As an HD user with analog gear I don't actually need offline bounce, I don't need freeze.

Pro Tools 13, hopefully with some useful features like multiple marker tracks, clip folders, channel strip presets, input monitoring off, will probably come out after 2015. All current information about Pro Tools licences seem to point that people who won't subscribe in 2015 to new plans will have their licenses impossible to upgrade.

So if I stay with Pro Tools HD 10 until 2016 what my options are going to be? Will I have to buy a brand new HD Native or HDX system to get an upgrade if I want it?

Thankfully Pro Tools 10 is so good it will serve me for years, so I will be fine if you won't let me upgrade, but isn't that a little bit silly?

At some point, you'll simply have to go on the subscription/support plan. That's been the whole point of all of this.

I'm staying with v10 for at least 2 years. What's going to happen then? I don't want to spend $1200 just in case because I might want to upgrade in 2 years.

You and I are the one user type they haven't figured what to do with just yet.

But you can surely bet it'll involve some sort of subscription.

Enjoy the next two years.

We are in the same position, and I find it very unlikely that we'll be ignored when we do wish to give $$$ for a stable Avid release.

But, that's a guess :)
