Default 5.1 metering

Is the onscreen metering of a 5.1 track always in the "Film" L/C/R/LFE/RL/RR format or is there a way it can be changed? I've got my I/O paths set up for standard SMPTE format (L/R/C/LFE/RL/RR) and would really like the onscreen metering to follow if at all possible...

Pro Tools on-screen metering of 5.1 format paths always follows the Film track layout:
L C R Ls Rs LFE

Hi,

Found this old post and I am asking the same question. Has this changed in the past 2 years? It seems a bit silly that you can change the output path but the meter does not change. Why is this the case?

Cheers

There has been about 80 people look at this, is everyone working in "L C R Ls Rs LFE" format?

Yes... as far as I know, the metering for the mixer on tracks, Auxes, Masters, etc., is ALWAYS L,C,R,Ls,Rs,LFE. It's a bit of a pain for me, really, because I always work L,R,C,LFE,Ls,Rs. I have my TC-6000 configured that way, and my IO setup for 5.1 work is always the same. As long as you know it's that way, you just deal with it, I guess. I haven't heard of any way to change it (I would though) so far.

Cheers, and hope that helps!
