Default quantizing from whole note grid to 1/4 note grid

I mistakedly wrote my whole drum track with the whole note equallying one beat. I didn't notice because the tempo was cranked up.
For example, when I set the grid to 1/4 note, each of my count-off hihat hits are spread out to one in a measure (which takes 4 measures), instead of 4 notes in one measure.
How do I get my whole drum track to transpose (globally) to 1/4 note?

thanks!

Have you tried Midi to remeter and choose 4/1 as tempo.

I thought I had identify beat working but, lots of error messages.Sseems you have to option click the blue arrows and conductor triangles to get rid of them first. Also, try putting original meter in 4/1 the do the math a select new amount of bars... and see if that shortens the sequence.

I tried to remeter the grid and it doesn't move. No matter what time measure I select, the grids do not reduce in numbers, they only move in the time line.
I want to be able to condense my midi track so that each of the 4/4 hits falls on a 1/4 note grid.
Anybody have any other suggestions? I tried nudging but it only move the whole selection left or right.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

I just switched a 12bar 4/4 section to 24 bars of 2/4. Using Identify beat. (just switched meter to 2/4 in upper window---leaving bottom alone)

But do it in two passes.

Try on the second pass, command, option to select all MIDI events and conductors, bar/beat markers. Then shift upper window to 1/4 and lower length window (for phrase) x2 of the default setting. Make sure your arithmetic is good. My example here is going the other way i.e. went for quarter notes to whole notes. But the other way around should work.
