Default Using My 002 With Pro Tools HD 10 Laptop???

Is there a way to use my old Digi 002 as a recording interface into my new PC laptap, which is running Pro Tools HD 10? The Digi 002 uses a Firewire connection while my laptop only has USB, HDMI, and eSATA inputs.

Is it simply a case of buying a cable with a Firewire end and a USB end, to have my laptop HD 10 software work with my 002? I imagine that are tons of driver issues and other things involved.

Just curious if I can still use my 002 to record with, now that I have a new laptop.

Thanks!

Jay

There is no such cable FW-USB. But you can buy FireWire PCMCIA card for laptop. Are you sure you don't have 4-pin FW port on the laptop?

Well, the only option is a PCMCIA card.

Thanks so much! Any recommendations on a card? Is this also a recording interface with 1/4" bass inputs?

The link you posted for that laptop says it does NOT have an PCMCIA card slot!

Yeah, no slot for a PCMCIA card. Any other options? It doesn't look like there is an easy way to make my 002 work with my new laptop. Ugh. Looks like I have to find a new recording interface, maybe a mBox?

Yep it can be difficult to find a windows laptop with FW. Always has been and next to impossible these days. However I think some are starting to get thunderbolt. And there are TB hubs with FW. But in your case a USB interface is your only solution.

Yep. Sell or trade the old 002 for a new USB Mbox or any other USB interface(personally, I cannot recommend the M-Audio boxes).

No big loss, the 002/003's turn into pumpkins at the stroke of 11.
