I Have a Dream
To be able to stream the direct output of the stereo buss in pro tools to my iphone in my car and simultaneously control Pro Tools with V Control Pro.
I've gotten close to this dream in a couple of ways: --I can bounce to an mp3 and stream it between my computer and phone. --I've bounced stems, put the stems in Auria and adjusted them in the car. --I've transferred the session to my laptop and taken that to the car. But my dream is to be able to stream from and adjust the mix on my HD rig from the car. I'm wondering if there may be a way to do this when the new collaboration tools go live? Say I have two PT licenses, one on my laptop and one on my production tower. Would I be able to collaborate with myself? If there's anyone out there who is tech savvy and has another idea-- I would love to hear it! |

Re: I Have a Dream
You'll first need to route PT to an application that can do the stream. You can do the loop-back method using a digital or analog cable, or us the virtual cable approach:

Re: I Have a Dream
Right on! I'll take a look at all these. Thanks!
Anyone have any recommendations of the software/iOS app that would handle the actual wireless streaming of the live audio? It looks like there's lots of options out there... Anyone have experience with one? |

Re: I Have a Dream
There seems to be a feature for streaming a session to a mobile device with the coming cloud sync integration:

Re: I Have a Dream
One word...Nicecast...which I suppose is 2 words strung together really.
Its an app from a company called Rogue Amoeba and will do just what you are asking

Re: I Have a Dream
Thanks so much for your help guys! I did get a facsimile of what I'm looking for working tonight, but it is a little perfunctory... (And most likely because my main machine is windows... I get the sense this is all a bit easier on Mac)
Right now I'm using Rogue's Airfoil to do the streaming-- which works like a charm (its $25, but that's not too bad...). The problem then was getting the audio from PT into Airfoil. Airfoil can't intercept the audio coming out of PT directly, and it doesn't seem to play nice with ASIO in general. So, I ended up installing both VB Virtual Cable and their VoiceMeeter. Right now I have to set PT's outputs to the Voicemeeter inputs, then set Voicemeeter's outputs to VB Virtual Cable. Then, I can tell Airfoil to take its input from the VB Virtual Cable. It works great and I can operate V Control Pro at the same time. The only downside is that currently there is about a 3 second delay on everything-- including any changes I make with V control. But hey... Not too bad. |
