Driver problem when installing PT7?
I tried to install the version 7 update this morning, and not only can I not get it to run, I can't get 6.9 to reinstall properly either.
I uninstalled 6.9 first, including device drivers. When I ran the 7 setup program, right after the dialog asking me if I want to continue despite the install having not passed LOGO testing, I get this error message: "The Digi 002 driver installer could not find the driver information. Please make sure the path to the .INF file is correct. " The installation then appears to finish. But when I start Pro Tools I get the following error message: "Pro Tools has detected a driver install error. Pro Tools will continue to launch but may be slow to begin recording." ...only I never get to record anything. Instead, after one plug-in check I get the standard error message for when if my 002 rack is not turned on "Unable to locate Digidesign hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on." -- even though naturally my 002 rack is on, and plugged in just the same as it was for 6.9. The worst thing is, I can't reinstall 6.9, because that seems to suffer a similar problem. Before I tried to install 7, Pro Tools worked perfectly. How could one or more drivers have been 'mislaid' by the PT 7 installation? Any help at all with this is much appreciated, even if it's a simple problem I just don't have the know-how to solve (I hope so). Re: Driver problem when installing PT7?
Here may be your answer- a lot of people are having the exact same problem. I was as of tonight. I read HERE that there were problems with power cables on some of the digi002 racks. The solution was to unscrew the top plate from the digi 02 rack, and observe that there are several cable ribbons secured to various places on the printed circuit boards inside. Most of them are glued at the point where they connect to the boards to keep them from being removed.
The ones that are NOT glued, should be (CAREFULLY!) pulled off and re-seated. This cuts through the oxidation that may have been built up, and BOOM!!!!!!! You're up and running. I had these errors also: "Unable to locate Digidesign hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on" "Pro Tools has detected a driver install error. Pro Tools will continue to launch but may be slow to begin recording." I unseated the NON-glued cables and re-seated them. PROBLEM SOLVED!! Thanks to all in the DUC, you guys are a credit and an asset to me and to us all. |
