when everything is too technical, sounds OK, but the pleasure is gone.

the ear has millions of years of evolution,
the problem of mixing with the ears, is that the result is not always what i want, has too much variables.
the computer is making too much fan noise,
the Airplanes, The loudspeakers, the placement, the acoustics are USELESS.. *****.

Mixing with the Ears is more difficult,
with a pair of $100usd, speakers and a bedroom is impossible.
That sums up my (sarcastic) comment on that video. Don't take me wrong, I appreciate and find useful tricks like this but as a musician mainly I couldn't mix without the ears. Cheers

I mix with both eyes and ears because the ears can be fooled.

I have the PSP and just enjoy seeing the yellow glow/needles on the VU variant somewhere on my screen ... not as warm/responsive as analogue/hardware but a credible emulation :)

For those using the PSP meters - how do you set the various controls? I tried the demo a while back and it seemed like one could set the controls such that the meter readings had no resemblance to what they should be if they were a real physical vu meter.

Personally I'd like to have a meter like the old tape recorders had decades back; was called the magic eye I believe.

I use the Klanghelm. I used to use the PSP but it kept crashing Pro Tools, never had any such problems with the Klanghelm (other than trying to decide which skin I like the best!)

i could not test Klangheim because there was no demo,
but agree, they look weird.

my video is Blocked in Geramny because it has Zedd - Push Play song...
all the $$$ by the views goes to Zedd. LOL

https://youtu.be/bedS4TkOTfE

i could remove the song... from 2:47 to 6:20,
or do another, better quality with my own music.
Anyway...

PSPAudio Triple meters v3.0.5
Wavearts TubeSaturator v2.02
ProTools HD12.3.1 Vu Meter.
ProTools Master Channel has Venue RMS Meter.
Analog RSP Tube Saturator in Bypass, Metering Output.
all VU Meters are calibrated if possible to show 0dB in analog with a 0dBFS Digital Sine Wave.
For example:
ProTools VU is 0dB,
WaveArts is fixed at -3dB Analog
Yamaha & PSP are at 3dB & -3dBFS
Analog is calibrated at the DA converter at -16dB with a +4dBu out.
Sampling Rate 96KHz.

the real VU meter is better for mids.
the PSP looks messy with mids and some lows, is like if can´t decide to play lows or mids, it reacts more to lows. The analog seems to be calibrated to emulate small loudspeakers response.
The PSP moves like PCP LOL. Jajajajajajajajaja

Tell me about it. I can't remember how many times in a live gig soundcheck I've been tweaking a channel eq only to find out couple of minutes later than it was bypassed all the time It's one of those (homer simpson voice) -DOH- moments...
