Default PT learning curve

How long have you been using PT and how long did it take you to get good at using it? Just wondering. What books or other material would you say to get to help a new PT user?

i've been hooked on pt for a little over a year, switched from adats. barely read the manual, didn't have time, my litte studio was booked for a big session the following week after i did the pt set up. i was so unsure of the format i bought a mackie mdr24 at the same time as a backup. once i set up pt, i never took the mackie out of the box.

as far as how long it took me to get good at, well some would still argue that maybe i should take up knitting instead

not sure about any books, just the more you use it the better you get........

Yeah, I really don't expect it will be too bad. Just takes a while to realize all the "deep" features. I've done lots of recording before so I'm not new to it. I just found lots of info on the digi site which is great.

The beauty of Pro Tools is how easy it is to learn. I went from adats to Pro Tools almost two years ago and I had no experience with PC recording before that. I didn't hardly have to read the manual at all to get it up and running on the first day I had it. I've tried a couple other PC recording systems such as Samplitude and Soundforge and neither of them were even close to as easy as Pro Tools to run without a big learning curve.

I was GREEN to recording when I got into Pro Tools. After a little frustration the epiphany happened and it all began to make sense. Books can help if you know what they are trying to say but if you dont know the "lingo" it can be a little difficult. Since I hate reading tech manuals I just kept messing with this and that and figured things out for myself, I did buy the David Franz book but to be honest I rarely use it.

I went from using a Fostex 8 track to Pro Tools a little less than a year ago. It was really quite easy to start using PT, and the DUC has been just priceless for information, tips, troubleshooting and even critique! I did go through the manuals, but searching this board has been the biggest help to me.

I jumped from a 4 track cassette to 001. I bought it on a Friday, had two mastered songs on Sunday. I watched the 001 video prior - very helpful.
