Here is a song I recently finished, please keep in mind that I'm not a professional sound engineer, I just mix my own stuff and help friends with low end projects.

Nice work, Live drums? Give us the goods on what was used...there's some super cool sounds. Not to mention great playing!

I was procrastinating a few weeks ago on writing my own material and my wife was too sick to do vocals on another track we've been working on. The result is this Blind Willie McTell cover 'Broke Down Engine'

Funny thing is over a few beers I tracked my guitar and vocals as ghosts. I ended up keeping them :P

Guitar - Taylor GS Mini, DI'd into Neve 1073
Vox - SM 58 (HA that's right), Avalon 737sp
Bass - Fender Jazz, DI Neve 1073
Drums - DW Collectors, Glynn Johns mic technique using D112 - Neve 1073LB, U87 - Avalon, Rode NT1 - interface and an additional snare bottom SM57 (I know it's not technically Glynn Johns then :P)

Left the drums with little processing to showcase the technique.

Cheers, enjoy https://soundcloud.com/fbrrecording/broke-down-engine-blind-willie-mctell-cover

wow man, apart from @joachim you are the first person to ask, thank you! there's not much to say, I do what I can and always have something to learn from the posts here: live drums (great sound from Dean to start with); fender Bassman/ts9/modded telecaster for all my guitars; no idea about the piano and keyboards apart from some parallel compression and distortion I put in, same goes for bass. What else you can hear? Big thanks, happy new year!

No worries, stoked to hear it's all live recording. So much programmed stuff. What I hear is some good mic technique and clean processing. What's the gear list on the recording side? Always curious to know what others are using.

How do you manage to get those super clean bass freqs!! I guess expensive gear and real talent (and a bit of school) is the answer at last. I'm following you on SC
The only good sounds I can get are guitars and bass, the drummer did most of his part, apart from that I have a Scarlett 6i6. I wish I had some professional sound engineer to work on my music but jazz fusion doesn't sell as much so I have to keep my eyes open and do it myself. Music first!

Ha thanks, yeah, I mean I have to admit that my bass sounds have improved drastically when I got the Avalon, then when I picked up that 1073LB it was a game changer! I highly recommend one.

If you ever need a hand on your mixes I'd be happy to help. Cheers

Appreciated, I'll let you know. BTW, I can see that you are in BC, and since you also play guitar, by any chance are you member of GC forums? I'm sure they will appreciate your music over there. Best

Hello... I have posted a song up on soundcloud, entitled: Edition dream_1_#Rhythm Track

You can find it here: RJLD Recordings

https://soundcloud.com/search?q=RJLD...tion%20dream_1

Please let me know what you think - in regards to the sonic characteristics of it, i.e.: Clarity and Energy and Weight. - I know they stream at 256kbps - however, I have the original wav.. :)

BTW - this is very old! (all music written on Pro Tools)

I think you will like it!

Regards

James
