I think these "what mic to use" questions are stupid.
Its yet another sign of how people think its a matter of equipment.

Get a good condenser and experiment with instument placement (room) and mic placement.

You might want to consider recording it in stereo.

Try 421 with U87. As far as preamps my favorite combination is API Lunchbox with 2 pres and 2 eq strips and DBX 166. Using a light compression.

But again use a good condenser mic for clean decay sound and I like using a good dynamic for the thick attack sound.

And for the guy that has the attitude problem with people asking a simple question. If it bothers you so much why did you answer. Just remember goes around comes around.
