Default Mbox 3 spdif issues with RME adi-2

My Mbox 3 refuses to accept the spdif clock from the RME ADI-2 converter. I constantly get the message which says something like Will not accept external clock bitrate fixed at 48. I have it set at 44.1 on the RME so it doesn't make sense.
Everything was working fine before, but all of a sudden the Mbox wouldn't budge. In the beginning it also refused to send the signal back to the RME so that I could monitor from there.

Help anybody?

Thanks!
