White Noise caused by file encryption?
I did a quick search and didn't find any posts on this.
So there's the well-known White Noise issue, although I'd never personally come across it. And I'm sure there are multiple reasons for it. However, earlier today I was trying to open a session someone sent to me through a service similar to YouSendit, and evidently the files were encrypted. I didn't notice this at first (although I think that's why the name of the folder was a green color in Windows 7), so when I opened the session all I got was white noise. I checked the audio files, and they played fine in windows media player. It was only after I was transferring the session onto a flash drive, which for some reason had to copy it without the encryption, that it occurred to me that the encryption was probably the cause. And sure enough, after I opened the now-decrypted session file, everything played fine. Just a heads up to those of you who may run into this! |
